Overview

Shater is an AI study companion we designed and engineered to turn a student's own files into effective study material. Instead of studying at random, the student uploads files and lectures and AI generates quizzes, flashcards and an organized schedule, with a points system that keeps them consistent.

Technologies used

  • Flutter: A single native app for both iOS and Android.

  • Large language models (LLM): Generate questions and cards from file content.

  • Document processing: Extract text and content from PDFs and notes.

  • Node.js: Server logic, sessions and points management.

  • PostgreSQL: Store content, quizzes and student progress.

Challenges & learnings

The core challenge was generating high-quality questions and cards from diverse, unstructured Arabic files. We tuned the document-processing steps and prompting of the language models to produce accurate, genuinely useful questions, with a smooth right-to-left Arabic experience.

Outcome

A student's own material became an active study tool, with quizzes, cards and a schedule from their own files, so consistency rose and review became more focused and effective.
